Former Ukrainian parliament speaker Andriy Parubiy has been shot lifeless in Lviv, Ukrainian authorities have stated.
Police obtained stories of the taking pictures within the Frankivsk district of Lviv, western Ukraine, at round noon native time on Saturday. Unconfirmed stories counsel Parubiy was shot a number of occasions by a gunman on an e-bike dressed as a courier.
Parubiy, 54, rose to prominence as a part of Ukraine’s Maidan motion, which advocated for nearer ties with the European Union (EU) and introduced down pro-Russian former president Viktor Yanukovych in 2014.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky described it as a “horrible homicide” and despatched his condolences.
Ukraine’s nationwide police, Lviv Regional police, and the safety service are investigating. It stays unclear who was behind the assault.
In an announcement, Zelensky wrote on Telegram: “The Minister of Inner Affairs of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko and Prosecutor Basic Ruslan Kravchenko have simply reported on the primary identified circumstances of the horrible homicide in Lviv. Andriy Parubiy was killed. My condolences to his household and associates.
“All essential forces and means are being deployed to research and discover the killer.”
