Extra Nationwide Guard troops leaving Los Angeles, Pentagon says


LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Extra Nationwide Guard troops can be leaving Los Angeles after they had been deployed to the area following protests sparked by federal immigration raids, the Pentagon confirmed.

Chief Pentagon Spokesman Sean Parnell mentioned that about 1,350 federalized California Nationwide Guardsmen have been launched from their deployment in L.A.

In a publish on X late Wednesday evening, Mayor Karen Bass known as it “one other win for Los Angeles.”

“We’ll proceed this strain till ALL troops are out of L.A.,” she added.

The announcement comes after the Pentagon confirmed 700 Marines can be leaving town. One other 2,000 Nationwide Guard troops had been additionally withdrawn earlier this month.

Parnell mentioned about 250 Guardsmen stay in Los Angeles to “defend federal personnel and property.”

The presence of Guard troops within the metropolis had been largely restricted to 2 areas with federal buildings in Los Angeles, together with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement workplace and detention facility downtown. Some troopers have been defending federal brokers throughout immigration raids.
