Man killed in his Central Islip yard after exploding firework blows up in his face, police investigating

CENTRAL ISLIP, Lengthy Island (WABC) — Police in Suffolk County are investigating after an exploding firework killed a house owner throughout a Fourth of July social gathering.

Authorities recognized the sufferer as Gabriel Ruiz-Urresto, 37. The accident occurred within the yard of his dwelling on E. Sycamore St in Central Islip round 9:30 p.m. Saturday.

Police say he lit the firework and it blew up in his face and struck him within the head.

He died on the scene.
