Souvankham Thammavongsa joins Deborah Treisman to learn and talk about “The Measurement of Issues,” by Samanta Schweblin (translated, from the Spanish, by Megan McDowell), which was revealed in The New Yorker in 2017. Thammavongsa is a Laotian Canadian author. Her publications embody the poetry collections “Gentle” and “Cluster” and the story assortment “Learn how to Pronounce Knife,” which received the Giller Prize in 2020. She has been publishing fiction and nonfiction in The New Yorker since 2021.
