The Artemis crew are formally on their approach in a historic 10-day mission across the Moon, which may take them farther from Earth than anybody has ever been earlier than.
The crew on the 10-day mission will not land on the Moon, however plan to circle it, whereas travelling farther from Earth than anybody has ever been earlier than. Following on from the unmanned Artemis I mission in 2022, Nasa’s Artemis programme is making ready for deep-space missions – with an final aim of reaching Mars within the 2030s.
